I am currently undergoing training to become certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a therapy originally developed for the treatment of traumatic memories and is now used for a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, traumatic or significant events, fears, and PTSD.
I utilize EMDR in my work with children, teens and adults. I am still in awe in how it helps my clients process painful emotions and memories in a rapid fashion. I've seen shocking progress in just a few sessions. I find some teens really love EMDR because they don't have to talk a lot about what they are feeling or thinking - in fact I don't really need to know much about what you want to work on or what the memory is, I just need to know that you know it.
Because I am still learning EMDR, I consult with an approved EMDR supervisor regularly to discuss my cases. I do not currently work with individual with significant PTSD or dissociative disorders.
