Counseling

I work with children and teens, ages 4 to 18, as well as parents and families.

Common issues in working with children and teenagers include:

• difficulties with behavior
• feelings of sadness, frustration, loneliness, anxiety
• divorce/separation and other big transitions
• sibling rivalry
• difficulty with boundaries, routines, bedtime
• aftermath of witnessing or experiencing abuse or domestic violence
• independence and individuality
• children/teens who are uniquely sensitive and intuitive (who often feel they don't fit in)
• nutrition and supplements

In working with young children, I often involve the parents in part of the therapy because of the dramatic impact parents have on their children. As a parent, you are the biggest influence in your child's life and working to strengthen that relationship will have lasting rewards! Depending on the situation, I may wish to meet with other members of the family, or speak with the school, to get a better understanding of the factors involved.

Teens may wish to meet alone, without parents, or sometimes they wish for a space to be able to talk with their parents - I am happy to honor the decision of the teen, but always strive to keep communication open between the teen and parent(s).
